Are you making plans these days? I must admit that during the height of the pandemic, I didn’t like to make plans too far in advance. Now that’s strange for me, because I usually make plans months ahead. But that is changing now. I have several things on my calendar. Maybe you do as well.
The apostle Paul was also a planner. Listen to his words in Romans 15:23-24, “But now that there is no more place for me to work in these regions, and since I have been longing for many years to see you, I plan to do so when I go to Spain. I hope to visit you while passing through and to have you assist me on my journey there, after I have enjoyed your company for a while.” (NIV)
So, Paul was planning to stop through Rome on his way to Spain. Can you get excited about a trip to Spain? Most of us would be planning which sites to see, where to stay and what to do. That’s because we’d go as tourists. But Paul was planning to go on a mission.
What is the challenge for us here? Well, I think it’s this: do we spend more time planning a vacation or focusing on a mission for God? I hope you are far enough through the pandemic to make plans again, and that your plans are about furthering the mission God has given us.
