Jesus’ Prayers – Sun – 23-02-05

Do you remember learning a skill as a child? Maybe it was riding a bike, driving a nail or frying an egg. It didn’t help much for someone to tell you what to do. You learned when they showed you what to do. The same is true in our spiritual lives. We need examples to follow. Jesus is our prime example.

Jesus taught people to pray by explaining what to do and not to do.  But he also provided an example in the Lord’s Prayer. It is a model we can follow. However, this week the podcast will examine seven times Jesus prayed. We’ll examine the words of these other prayers as examples to follow.

The first is found in Luke 10:21-22, ‘At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure. All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and no one knows who the Father is except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.” (NIV 1984)

In this prayer, Jesus demonstrates praising God for working in his life and the lives of his followers. Take a moment now to praise God for working in your life.
