Faith Heroes – Sun – 21-11-07

Have you ever visited a hall of fame? Several exist, many honoring athletes. The first hall of fame was the U. S. Baseball Hall of Fame. But one exists for professional football, basketball and soccer. Even bowling has a hall of fame. Some sports franchises have their own hall of fame. Though it is not a sport, rock and roll also has a hall of fame.

I have never been to any of these halls of fame. But I have been to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum. You might as well call it a hall of fame. Besides telling the history of Negro Leagues Baseball, it also honors some of the greatest baseball players of all time.

For the next two weeks, the podcast is going to explore a hall of fame. No, not a sports museum, rather we will look at heroes of faith listed in Hebrews chapter 11. As we begin, we see at the entry – that’s in verses one and two – the theme of our “virtual museum.” Like an inscription over a museum entry, the verses read, “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for.”(NIV) Join me tomorrow as we begin our tour of the heroes of faith. Let it inspire you to be certain of what you do not see and sure of your hope!
