Perseverance – Thu – 22-03-10

Have you heard about the effort to cancel Joe Rogan? He’s a podcaster. He has guests on his show that don’t always spout the approved ideas of government. For instance, some of his guests challenge the official positions on Covid. So, people have criticized Rogan and attempted to cancel his show and silence him.

You know, if Jesus were alive today, I’m sure the same people would try to cancel him. Face it, the religious leaders of Jesus’ day tried to cancel him. They sought to discredit him, argued with him in public, criticized him for minor things, and hatched assassination plots against him. Jesus faced all of this, as well as crowds who wouldn’t accept his teaching, disciples who sometimes missed the point of his teaching and the temptation in Gethsemane to turn from his mission. But he stuck with it.

If you want to understand perseverance, look at Jesus. He is an example, as 2 Thessalonians 3:3-5 says, “But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one. We have confidence in the Lord that you are doing and will continue to do the things we command. May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance.” (NIV)

That should be our pray today! May God direct our hearts into his love and give us a perseverance like Jesus’!
