Have you ever looked in the mirror and wished you looked different? We all do it. We want more of this and less of that. I’m told even super models have some physical trait they don’t like. Our superficial culture values youth and beauty. It seeks to shame us because we don’t measure up to its standards. Then it temps us to buy some product to fix our problem, whether skin lotion, hair tonic or cosmetic surgery. We fall for it because we believe the physically attractive are more valuable.
This week the podcast is focused on the equality of people. On Sunday, we found the first reason people have equal value. It lies in the creation of human beings in the image of God. Today, we find another reason, and it has nothing to do with our looks.
2 Corinthians 5:14-15 says, “For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.” (NIV)
Did you hear it? The Son of God died to save you. How do you place a value on that? It truly is priceless. But he didn’t just die for you, or me. He died for all people. We are each so valuable Christ died for one and he died for all.
