What junk food did you favor as a child or teen? Some of the things I loved I don’t like anymore. Take Nesbitt Strawberry Soda©. I remember buying it from the chest-style machines. The bottles hung on rails and you slid them into position to purchase. I remember guzzling bottles of the bright red stuff. Another item I liked was the Slo Poke© sucker. It took a long time to consume those slabs of caramel on a stick. I never had one last all day, but it lasted longer than the strawberry soda. I guess the amount of time enjoyment lasts can be a factor for selecting a treat.
Time is also an important factor to understand about God. Isaiah 40:28-29 says, “Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.” (NIV)
This phrase “everlasting God” highlights his transcendence of time. He had no beginning and will never cease to exist. Time does not limit him. His creation of the cosmos included the creation of time itself. This passage also shows God is unlimited in strength. He never tires. In fact, he can give us strength and power when we are weak. Today, marvel that the everlasting God loves us.
