Just stop for a minute and marvel at the creativity and productivity of people. Whether creating works of art or engineering a rocket ship, people have created amazing things. From agricultural innovation, to medicine, to information science, the world has been blessed by the work of countless people. In fact, we probably take for granted many amazing things like air conditioning, water heaters, running water and sewer systems.
We are seeing the result of what God said to the first people in Genesis 1:28-30. It reads, ‘God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground–everything that has the breath of life in it–I give every green plant for food.” And it was so.’ (NIV)
These verses describe the mandate that God gave to people. We were given the job of making creation productive as the human population expanded. Aren’t you glad God made people to be creative and productive?
