I love superhero movies, don’t you? It’s fun to fantasize about having special power or astonishing strength. Who wouldn’t want to be “faster than a speeding bullet”?! Just being able to shoot webs from your wrist would be fun!
We may fantasize about being a superhero, but most of us don’t fantasize about the power of prayer. In fact, we usually think the only relationship between prayer and power is that both words begin with the letter “p”! Yet one of Jesus’ most intriguing lessons on prayer should make us think. Mark 11:23-25 says, “I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.” (NIV)
This tells us of two things vital for our prayer life. First, we must have faith that God will answer. As Hebrews 11:6 says, “And without faith it is impossible to please God.” (NIV) Second, we must forgive other in the same way God forgives us. Holding a grudge is dangerous. .
So, which is the challenge for you? Today, trust God and forgive others!
