Today, Easter is celebrated by millions of people around the world. What do you think is the symbol of Easter? Is it the Easter bunny? Or maybe you think of Easter eggs or the Easter lily. Let’s change the thought, shall we? Picture in your mind the symbol of Christianity. Do you see a cross or a crucifix? Did you know that the death of Jesus is useless without his resurrection?
That’s what Paul said in 1 Corinthians 15. The gospel that saves us relies on Jesus’ death and resurrection. Listen to 1 Corinthians 15:2-5, “By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve.” (NIV)
This day is all about the resurrection of Jesus. It, along with his death, is the most important event in history. However you celebrate this day, whether gathering with family for dinner, watching children hunt for eggs or attending a breakfast at church, stop and celebrate the resurrection of Jesus.
This week, the podcast will look at the impact Jesus’ resurrection makes on our lives. He is risen! He is risen indeed!
