Have you ever been anxious to do something before the proper time? I once thought it unfair that my older brother got to do things I didn’t. I thought I was old enough to drive and to stay out late, like he did. While in college, I led a high school youth group. I distinctly remember one 15-year-old girl who wanted to date a boy in college. She thought it vastly unfair her parents didn’t let her. All through our society, we have certain rights and privileges that are reserved until the proper time.

God, the creator of time, also moves within it. He does things at the proper time. Listen to Psalms 145:14-15 describe how God cares for our needs at the proper time, “The LORD upholds all those who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down. The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food at the proper time.”

God also sent Jesus at exactly the right time, as 1 Timothy 2:5-6 says, “For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all men–the testimony given in its proper time.” (NIV)

Today, are you anxiously praying for something? Do you think it unfair God hasn’t granted it yet? Just remember, God knows the proper time for everything. Trust that God will care for you and answer your prayer in his time.
