Right now, I want you to picture something that is overflowing. Picture something overflowing. Now, was what you pictured a good thing or a bad thing? Often, we think of something overflowing as a bad thing, right? Did you think of an overflowing coffee cup? An overflowing emergency room during the Omicron spike? Or the overflow of a clogged toilet? Those are all bad things! I did a web search for news articles using the word overflowing. The majority of the articles on the first page of results described something bad.

But having an overflow can also describe something positive. In my web search, twice it referred to an abundance of good deals at retail stores. Another time it described the level of tips left at a deli. There must have been a lot!

In fact, you and I should have something overflow from our lives. Listen to Romans 15:13, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” (NIV)

Isn’t that a neat picture?! Hope can fill us to the point is spills out and flows to those around us. Think about what that would mean in this crazy, broken world. People need hope. God can fill us with so much hope it overflows. Today, trust God to fill your life until hope overflows!
