Don’t you just love a good film?! Did you know that there is probably a film about Noah in your favorite genre? The film Noah, released in 2014, is a big epic adventure with special effects. Whereas 2007’s Evan Almighty is a comedy. Dozens of films have been made about Noah and the ark. It is one of the most known Bible stories. And it inspires the imagination of movie makers.
So, we shouldn’t be surprised to find Noah listed as a hero of the faith in Hebrews 11. Verse 7 says, “By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.”
Remember the definition of faith at the entry to this chapter? It spoke of being “certain of what we do not see.” That was Noah. He was told about a world destroying flood. He was told to build a ship bigger than anything he’d ever seen. God explained he’d need to bring a male and female of every kind of creature on board. He trusted God, even about things he’d never experienced!
Noah inspires us to have faith in God. We have never seen anything like the return of Christ or of eternal life in heaven. But we can be sure it will happen, just like Noah was sure about the flood!
