This week on the podcast we’ll explore reasons to believe in God and the Bible.
Have you been hearing the number a trillion lately? It seems like the U.S. government is always trying to spend a trillion or more dollars!
Large numbers are often lost on us. For example, many today seem to accept the fact that the earth is 4.5 billion years old. We hardly bat an eye. The earth has to be billions of years old in order to support the theory of evolution.
I’m sure you know that the Bible’s description of earth’s creation seems to support a young earth, not one that is billions of years old. But did you know scientific evidence exists for a young earth?
- For example, evidence measuring the delta of the Mississippi River shows it started flowing 4,000 years ago.
- Also, the earth’s magnetic field is decaying. Using the current rate of decay, the earth can’t be more than 10,000 years old. Otherwise, the magnetic field would have surpassed that of a star!
- Then there are the Polonium 218 halos in certain rocks. They formed when the rocks cooled. Their existence contradicts the idea the earth’s molten rock cooled over thousands and millions of years, because the Polonium doesn’t last that long.*
I could list more examples, but only have a bit of time left! Just remember, a lot of evidence exists for the relatively young age of the earth and solar system, which contradicts the idea of evolution.
