Wisdom – Fri – 21-10-29

Have you noticed all the help wanted signs in restaurants and retail stores? The pandemic has created a labor shortage. I have seen fast food restaurants offering $15 an hour. One even promises that you can get paid by automatic deposit each day after you have worked. I’m sure that corporations are also sweetening the benefits and bonuses to attract qualified help. In fact, for some, benefits are the deciding factor when choosing a job. Most people want a job that offers a good health insurance plan. Larger corporations often offer a wide range of benefits, including health insurance, vacations, disability and life insurance, money for continuing education, matching charitable donations and other perks. Some offer free coffee, snacks and soda at the workplace.

Did you know that seeking wisdom from God also has benefits? Proverbs 2:9-11 lists a couple. It says, “Then you will understand what is right and just and fair–every good path. For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul. Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you.”(NIV)

The first benefit is understanding what is fair. Many in this world clamor for justice and fairness. Unfortunately, they often define fairness as what they want. But if you seek wisdom from God, you are instructed in what is actually just and fair, which often contrasts with what we want.

Remember, seek God’s wisdom. The benefits are fantastic!
