I was listening to the one of the local radio stations recently. They reported on a group of family and friends who wanted to celebrate the birthday of a loved one in the hospital. However covid-19 restrictions prevented anyone from visiting inside the hospital. So they all made signs and carried balloons. They stood in the parking lot and called the hospital room number they had been given. They told the person who answered to look out the window. That person did, from a window high on the building. The group on the ground spotted them and started jumping about, waving and holding up their signs. Then more people appeared in other windows and waved back! Soon, people on different floors were at the windows waving at the group on the ground. A bit later, the group in the parking lot learned they had called the wrong room number! But it didn’t matter. Their gesture of good will meant for one lifted the hearts of many!
Philippians 4:8 says to think about “whatever is lovely.” You could translate this as “whatever is heart-warming.” You see the word describes the positive emotional reaction we feel to something. The story of the group encouraging multiple patients is an example of something lovely or heart-warming. This week , we are going to search for and share lovely things. I hope you spot some in your life as well!
